Bashful by Lo Brynolf

While reading Bashful I had to remind myself numerous times that this was a debut novel. I have read some books lately from veteran writers that cannot even compare to the level of awesomeness Lo Brynolf brought to the table with Bashful.

I laughed, oh boy did I laugh... I knew going into Bashful that the chances of me loving the story were high. After all, former theater geek here! Hell, I even joked with Lo that she has been stalking me for ideas, hiding out in my bushes with a camera and binoculars. The similarities between Callie and I are pretty uncanny to say the least. Now where the hell is MY Bash?

Callie lives and breathes theater, participating in productions since she was young. One of the lucky few who have supportive parents, the only contingency is that she must be educated in her craft in order to pursue it. Callie meets Bash her freshman year of college, finding herself falling for her best friend. As if being in love with your best friend wasn't complicated enough... Bash? Yeah, he's gay.

Fresh back at school after two years studying abroad, Bash is back and Callie is quickly losing her heart again. She knows better than to let her heart yearn for someone she can't have, and her mind to wander when he says something suggestive to her. She just can't seem to help herself though.... And neither can Bash.

Bashful sucked me in from the get go. Chalk full of humor, amazing character development, and some strong themes and messages, Lo Brynolf is easily one of the authors I will stalk shamelessly from now on. [[YOU HEAR THAT LO? THE STALKER BECOMES THE STALKEE!]] After rocking her debut, I cannot wait to see what that mind of hers comes up with next, and know she is going to do AMAZING things.
