Releases May 10th
There are books I skim and some I straight up devour. Arrogant Devil was one that beckoned to me and and called out to my soul. The themes of mental abusive and gaslighting are strong in the storyline, and anyone who knows me on a personal level knows this is a topic I'm open and passionate about because of my own experiences in the past. The way Rachel captured the feelings, psychology, and even mannerisms of an abuse victim is extremely spot on and well done. I couldn’t help but cry and cringe along with Meredith because some of the PTSD scenes are just THAT SPOT ON.
It’s no secret that I have been jonesing for this book since the moment Rachel released her last one. She’s like a crack dealer, but with words instead of drugs. Just a little hit and I’m enraptured and pulled into the world she has created. Feeling the emotions of the characters that seem all too real.
Jack is the owner of Blue Stone Ranch, losing his parents in a car accident at the age of 20, and taking on unexpected responsibility. While he always knew he would be taking over, nobody expected the timing or circumstances. Meredith graduated college and gifted herself with a brand new husband who had nothing but money and damaging things to say to her. Running away from home, she turns to the half-sister she barely speaks to, who happens to be executive assistant to the Arrogant Devil himself. Jack doesn’t want the princess in the house and Meredith just wants to survive. The two are constantly butting heads, getting into fights, and have some of the best back and forths I have ever read.
If you want an enemies to lovers story, with a strong message of overcoming mental abuse, and one of the slowesttttt burns known to man, then I suggest you give Arrogant Devil a shot. Rachel brought her usual quick wit, randomly hilarious humor, and a slow burn that will have you frustrated and panting, hoping that one of them will give in and just friggen put the P in the V already!
